Peter Robinson, on behalf of the Fedora Project, has announced today, March 30, that the recently announced Fedora 22 Alpha Linux kernel-based operating system is now available for the AARCH64 and POWER64 (PPC64/PPC64LE) architectures.

Of course, the announcement refers to the Fedora 22 Server Edition, which brings various improvements and patches in order to make Fedora Linux your number one choice for servers. The Alpha version includes a database server role based on PostgreSQL and an updated Cockpit web-based management application.

“The Fedora 22 Alpha release for the AARCH64 and POWER 64 secondary architectures has arrived, with a preview of the latest free and open source technology under development. Take a peek inside!” says Peter Robinson in the mailing list announcement.

Users can download and test the Fedora 22 Alpha Server operating system for the AARCH64, the new 64-bit ARM architecture, as well as for the PowerPC 64-bit architectures, including PPC64 and PPC64LE (PowerPC Little Endian), also known as POWER64, right now from the Fedora Project website or via Softpedia.

However, please keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, which means that it is not suitable for deployment on production environments where stability is extremely important. More details about the Alpha version of Fedora 22 Server can be found in today’s announcement.
