Steven Shiau has released a new development version of his Clonezilla Live operating system aimed at system administrators who want an easy-to-use, portable, and straightforward solution for cloning disk drives.

According to the changelog, Clonezilla Live 2.4.0-7 is now based on the latest upstream Debian Sid software repositories as of March 30, 2015, updates the Partclone utility to version 0.2.77.drbl1, and addresses an issue with the Btrfs file system.

A new package has been added, called ifenslave, which can be used to attach or detach slave network devices to a bonding device. Thanks to Uwe Dippel who reported the issue, the ocs-onthefly script no longer fails to clone SWAP partitions for disks using GUID Partition Table (GPT).

Additionally, the ocs-prep-home and ocs-cvt-dev link files have been added to the prep-ocsroot and cnvt-ocs-dev scripts respectively, and an improved mechanism for parsing the PV has been implemented, thanks to Uditha De Silva.

Lastly, the ocs-install-grub script has been modified to handle the GRUB bootloader on the root (/) partition instead of the master boot record (MBR). Download Clonezilla Live 2.4.0-7 right now from Softpedia, but please keep in mind that it is an unstable release, thus not suitable for use on production environments.
