A couple of weeks ago, we've introduced you to Chromixium OS, a Linux kernel-based operating system based on the latest LTS release of the Ubuntu distribution and designed to look and act like Google's famous Chrome OS.

Today, we are happy to report that the final release for the Chromixium 1.0 operating system is now available for download, powered by Linux kernel 3.13, based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), and built around the Chromium web browser.

"I am extremely proud to announce that Chromixium 1.0 final, stable version is ready for download," says RichJack in the release announcement. "Chromixium combines the elegant simplicity of the Chromebook with the flexibility and stability of Ubuntu’s Long Term Support release."

Prominent features of Chromixium 1.0 include support for accessing the Chrome OS and Google services, optional support for Google sign-in, Adobe PepperFlashPlugin for an enhanced browsing experience, as well as support for up to 64GB RAM.

The operating system is currently supported only on 32-bit hardware components. It can be installed alongside Windows or any other Linux OS. Download Chromixium 1.0 right now via Softpedia or directly from the project's website.
