We have just been informed by Łukasz Zemczak from Canonical about the latest work done by the Ubuntu Touch developers in preparation for the upcoming OTA-7 software update.

According to Mr. Zemczak's email received by Softpedia, the testing of Ubuntu Touch OTA-7 continues at fast pace, and the developers are fixing any bugs that occurred during the testing sessions.

For example, a critical issues has been uncovered in the last Release Candidate build of the OTA-7 images, a boot problem with the core_pattern component that occurred when crash reporting was enabled by default.

The developers are now working hard to fix this issue before the final build of OTA-7 gets out, and keep the crash reporting functionality enabled. Tomorrow we should have more news about the fix.

"A late and short update today. The OTA-7 image testing continues - so far things look 'rather' good, although QA has reported one pretty critical issue on the latest candidate: bug #1505302," says Łukasz Zemczak.

Łukasz Zemczak is confident that the Ubuntu Touch OTA-7 software update will make it on time for the October 19 release, as scheduled initially, despite the fact that critical bugs are uncovered during QA testing. OTA-7 is a free over-the-air update for all Ubuntu phone users, including BQ Aquaris E4.5, BQ Aquaris E5 HD, Meizu MX4, and Nexus 4.
