14 DAY TRIAL // Canonical's Michael Vogt informs us about the release and immediate availability for download of the tenth image of the stable Snappy Ubuntu Core 15.04 operating system for embedded and IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
Prominent features added in this new release of Snappy Ubuntu Core 15.04 operating system include support for skipping network interface configuration via the OEM snap, as well as the ability to restart the systemd-modules-load.service every time the configuration changes the modules.
"Hello snappy world, we are happy to announce a new Snappy Ubuntu Core stable release (image 10 at 15.04/stable)," writes Michael Vogt in the brief release announcement. "The stable images were also updated to reflect the latest image available in the stable channel. The raspi2 image is now also available."
A few bugs have also been fixed in the tenth update of Snappy Ubuntu Core 15.04, among which we can mention an issue with the loading of kernel modules on first boot, the incorrect output for the status of the framework in the REST API, and a backlight systemd service error.
Until Snappy Ubuntu Core is rebased on the latest Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf), you can download the latest Snappy Ubuntu Core 15.04 images from the official servers, where it is distributed for free as binaries for the amd64+generic and armhf+bbb hardware architectures, based on Ubuntu 15.04 (Vivid Vervet).
Additionally, the Snappy Ubuntu Core 15.04 Raspberry Pi 2 images have also been updated and are available for download now. Once again, we remind you that Snappy Ubuntu Core is a special edition of the Ubuntu Core operating system that uses Snappy packages instead of the regular Debian-based ones employed in Ubuntu Desktop and Server OSes.
