OpenStack 2015.2.0 will be released on October 15

Canonical's James Page posted an interesting message on the Ubuntu mailing list, informing all Ubuntu developers about the steps they need to take in order to update the OpenStack cloud software to version 2015.2.0 (Liberty) in Ubuntu 15.10.

Both projects are currently in development, and the Ubuntu team's goal is to synchronize the release of OpenStack Liberty with the one of Ubuntu 15.10, in other words, updating the OpenStack Kilo to Liberty just in time for the October 22 release of Wily Werewolf.

In order to achieve this, the Ubuntu developers will have to upload further Beta and Release Candidate builds of the OpenStack 2015.2.0 (Liberty), as they are required for all core OpenStack projects, as well as for any other package that depends on OpenStack.

"For the Ubuntu Wily development cycle, we have a little breathing space compared to Vivid in that we're going to release a week after OpenStack does upstream on the 15th October, thus avoiding zero-day SRU's as we had to undertake last cycle," says James Page.

While OpenStack Liberty is scheduled for release on October 15, the development cycle of the Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) operating system will continue with the Final Beta build, due for release on October 22. We reported the other day that Ubuntu 15.10 will be powered by Linux kernel 4.2.
