A small Live CD for partitioning disk drives

Softpedia has been informed earlier today, October 18, by Zbigniew Konojacki, the creator and lead developer of the 4MLinux project, about the immediate availability for download and testing of the Beta release of his 4MParted 14.0 distrolette.

According to Mr. Konojacki, 4MParted is part of the 4MRescueKit project, a collection of tools that are essential for PC maintenance operations, including backup, restore, recovery, disk imaging, and disk partitioning. However, 4MParted is built around the popular open-source Gparted partition editor software.

The latest version, 4MParted 14.0 Beta, has been rebased on the current stable release of the GParted application, version 0.23.0, as well as the Beta build of the upcoming 4MLinux 14.0 computer operating system, which means that it inherits most of its features.

"4MParted is a very small live CD designed for disk partitioning. It's a part of 4MRescueKit, which in turn is one of the three main 4MLinux releases available for download," says Zbigniew Konojacki. "This version includes GParted 0.23.0 and it uses 4MLinux 14.0 as the base system."

Those of you who want to take the 4MParted 14.0 Beta distrolette for a quick test drive can download the ISO image right now from Softpedia. However, we inform you that this is a pre-release version, which might contain unresolved issues. Thus, we don't recommend using it on production environment where stability is of the essence.
