We have been recently informed by Zbigniew Konojacki, the creator of the 4MLinux project, that the upcoming point release of the 4MLinux 13.0 distribution has entered development and that Beta builds are now available for download and testing.

According to the brief release notes, 4MLinux 13.1 Beta comes with lots of updated applications, such as the current development version of the forthcoming LibreOffice 5.0 office suite, Mozilla Firefox 38.0.5 web browser, Google Chrome 43.0.2357.130, aTunes 3.1.2, Qmmp 0.8.5, MPlayer SVN-r37401, SMPlayer SVN-r6967, Mesa 10.5.7, and X.Org Server 10.5.7.

Powered by Linux kernel 3.18.14 LTS, 4MLinux 13.1 Beta includes all sorts of software packages for setting up a fully functional LAMP (Linux, Apache, MariaDB, and PHP) server. Among the most important ones, we can mention Apache 2.4.12, MariaDB 10.0.19, PHP 5.6.10, Perl 5.22.0, and Python 2.7.10.

"4MLinux 13.1 is ready for testing. Edit your documents with LibreOffice 5.0.0.2, surf the Internet with Firefox 38.0.5 and Chrome 43.0.2357.130, enjoy your music collection with Qmmp 0.8.5 and aTunes 3.1.2, watch videos with MPlayer SVN-r37401 and SMPlayer SVN-r6967, play games with Xorg 1.17.1/Mesa 10.5.7 support enabled," says Zbigniew Konojacki.

At the moment, it would appear that only the 4MLinux and 4MLinux Core editions are available for download as part of the 13.1 Beta development process. Designed for i686 (32-bit) architectures, 4MLinux Core 13.1 is based on GNU C Library 2.21 and BusyBox 1.23.2 software, and uses GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) 5.1.0. Download 4MLinux 13.1 Beta and 4MLinux Core 13.1 Beta right now from Softpedia.
