The developer is still not bringing out of Beta

4MPlayer is new interesting Linux distribution that has been built with a single use in mind, to play any kind of video files, including CDs and DVDs, without having to boot an entire distro and its desktop environment.

As the name implies, 4MPlayer is based on 4MLinux and it’s made by the same developer. 4MLinux is one of the smallest distributions available that still features a complete and working desktop environment. This is done with a lot of compression and by implementing only what is strictly necessary.

"4MPlayer can be treated as a small tool, which will turn your CD/DVD drive into a powerful CD/DVD player. This release uses 4MLinux 12.0 (with MPlayer SVN-r37369 and FFMpeg Git-2014-02-05) as the core system. 4MPlayer can be treated as a small tool, which will turn your CD/DVD drive into a powerful CD/DVD player," reads the official website.

A new version of 4MPlayer has been released, and it's now at 12.0 Beta. Please keep in mind that the Beta tag is not there for nothing. Users can download the 4MPlayer 12.0 Beta distribution from Softpedia and give it a try. This is not a stable edition, and you might find bugs and other problems, and you should let the developers know about them.
