Amulet of Dreams Demo

Amulet of Dreams is a hidden object title that features a young boy as the protagonist, a slight step up from the usual male detectives and female reporters. It’s also a story that stretches into the realms of magic, beyond several worlds.

The story, as usual, starts with a short clip that presents you with the premise. You see a little girl who's under some kind of illness and shortly after, you meet a man who looks rather dubious. Amulet of Dreams is played from the perspective of a boy who has to figure out as much as he can about the illness and events using his sense of observation and problem-solving skills.

One thing that is a bit off is that because of the silence, and in conjunction with how the game mechanics work, you don’t feel as if the protagonist is a boy. There is no way of relating to him, which tends to lower the potential of the entire experience. Nonetheless, the story and the places you get to see make up for that, but not by much.

If you’re a regular of the hidden object genre, most of the puzzles will seem familiar. Apart from the original worlds, there isn’t all that much room for creativity. You could say that finding the clues is different but in perspective, getting keys and missing clock pieces is the same every time.

However, traveling through several worlds and meeting some interesting character, good and bad, is always something to enjoy.

To end, Amulet of Dreams doesn't shine all that much in its genre. It’s just a well-crafted game, with a nice story and an interesting journey ahead.
