PC users on Steam will not be able to preload the files for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, while those who got the console versions of the game are able to do such a thing, according to a Konami representative who declined to share any other details about the situation.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set to debut on September 1 worldwide, across PC, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. The major title promises to deliver not only a sprawling story but also open environments and, of course, the tactical shooter action that made it a global icon.

While the game is coming on all these platforms, the digital version won't be available for preload on all of them.

According to Konami Community Manager Robert Allen Peeler, PC users who got the game on Steam won't be able to preload the files for it on the digital service. Meanwhile, the console versions will kick off their preload periods shortly before launch.

PC users, on the other hand, have to wait until September 1 and download the game once it becomes available at 10am PT. Considering the title is set to occupy around 28GB of hard drive space, according to the requirements, they'll have to wait quite a bit until they finish transferring it and start playing the eagerly anticipated game.
