Video game developer NGD Studios and publisher Wargaming are ready to offer fans of the strategy genre a first look at the mechanics of the coming Master of Orion reboot, which is designed to deliver a new take on the classic 4X mechanics.

The footage focuses on the various ways the races of the sector can compete and wage war against each other, with two weird robot newscasters talking about the events and giving gamers a look at a variety of features.

The development team states, "The quirky hosts Galactic News Network are your guide to the fearsome Sakkra and the ancient and intelligent Psilon Quanta. Get a glimpse at game mechanics, warfare and negotiations across a vast and volatile galaxy."

This is just the first of a series of videos that will deliver more details about Master of Orion.

Wargaming has managed to acquire the license and says that its main focus is on updating the graphics of the game while also making limited alternations to the mechanics to make them palatable to modern players.

10 races will be included and players can control all aspects of their development, from production and research to diplomacy and combat.

A Collector's Edition of the title will be offered to those who also want to get the previous titles in the franchise and another race.

Master of Orion will probably be launched on the PC at some point in 2016.
