The new open-world title might debut this spring

Large video game retailer GameStop may have leaked the actual release for Mafia 3. Apparently, the new open-world action game made by Hangar 13 and 2K Games is set to appear on April 26, 2016.

Mafia 3 was rumored for quite a few years, and earlier this month, at Gamescom 2015, publisher 2K Games and developer Hangar 13 finally confirmed the game, while offering some actual details about its story and mechanics, not to mention a cinematic video that sets the stage for the experience.

Unfortunately for fans, a concrete release date wasn't offered by the two companies, only a loose 2016 launch period, alongside the actual platforms, in the form of PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

This isn't out of the ordinary, as many companies commit to a release date once they're certain they can meet it.

However, it seems that 2K Games and Hangar 13 have already nailed down a potential launch date for Mafia 3, at least according to the game's listing on GameStop. The large retailer mentions an April 26, 2016 debut for the open-world experience.

The date coincides with a Tuesday, which is usually the day when games launch in North America. It's also too specific to be a placeholder date, so it stands to reason that Mafia 3 might make its debut during that time period.

2K hasn't commented on the leak, unfortunately.
