Just Cause 3 developer Avalanche Studios has just released a brand new dev diary video for the open-world experience, this time focusing on just how it built the huge virtual environment for players to frolic and destroy things in when the title launches this winter.

Just Cause games have delivered some memorable experiences over the years, and with the upcoming Just Cause 3, developer Avalanche Studios wants to take things further and offer even more freedom, not to mention visual quality to fans.

The studio has already talked in depth about the protagonist of the series, Rico Rodriguez, as well as about the actual amount of destruction that's possible in the game.

Now, in its third dev diary video, the developer discusses the creation of the huge open world that's available to players. Besides sharing commentary from its staff and plenty of gameplay footage from the new title, the video also confirms a few interesting things, such as the fact that the world is split into three major zones.

Avalanche is quite proud of its virtual environment and reveals that it totals about 400 square miles (around 1000 square kilometers).

You can also learn just how the island of Medici combines the best zones from the real-world Mediterranean, from Italy to Greece and other countries.

Just Cause 3 arrives on December 1 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so check out the new video below.
