The 3DS continues to be the best-selling piece of hardware on the Japanese market, but the big story of the week is that the PlayStation 4 has lost a lot of its sales in a short period of time and has dropped to fourth.

The Nintendo handheld managed to move 26,739 units to its fans for the week that ended on September 20, which is only slightly down when compared to the previous week, according to Media Create figures quoted by NeoGAF.

The PlayStation Vita managed to climb to second for the period and saw its own sales more than double to reach 20,210, while the Wii U posted a drop of close to 4,000 units to become the best-selling home console in Japan at 16,033.

The PlayStation 4 has seen a big drop and has gone from 18,555 to 8,375 in just one week.

The PlayStation 3 sold 2,411 units in one week while the Xbox One saw a jump and reached 737.

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon for the 3DS is the new entry at the top of the software chart, with general sales of 151,823, with Super Mario Maker for the Wii U now in second place with sales of 54,544.

The rest of the top ten includes: Yo-Kai Watch Busters: Red Cat Team / White Dog Squad, Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, World Trigger: Borderless Mission, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Splatoon, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for PS3 and Resident Evil: Revelations 2.
