Halo 5: Guardians was set to receive a new commercial on Sunday, but it seems that a leak has prompted Microsoft to debut the video early and show off more great footage promoting the upcoming first-person shooter for the Xbox One platform.

Halo 5 is set to introduce a bold new story starring franchise protagonist Master Chief, one in which he is branded a traitor of the human race and, if you've been following the fantastic Hunt the Truth podcast series, the center of a huge conspiracy by the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI).

After showcasing the "death of Master Chief" in a recent video, Microsoft and 343 Industries now show that the Chief is still alive and kicking, despite the "official" story from ONI.

It also shows the main goal of Spartan Locke, the other playable character in the game, which is to hunt down the Master Chief and stop him from showing what's actually happening to inhabitants of Earth and its space colonies.

The actual Halo 5: Guardians game launches worldwide on October 27, exclusively for the Xbox One console. Microsoft has already confirmed that a special Limited Edition bundle, with a custom themed Xbox One and controller, is going to appear at the same time, with a copy of the game included in the retail package.

Expect to see more of Halo 5 as we get closer to its launch.
