Ubisoft has been running a teaser video for a new title today, and it seems that the French publisher is getting ready to announce a game called Far Cry Primal, which will take the classic mechanics of the series back to a moment in history when players have to rely on bows and other primitive weapons to survive.

The reveal comes from the official Twitter account of the Turkish version of IGN, which is also offering an image that promotes the title, although it does not seem to be taken from the actual engine.

A larger post was offered on the site, but it has been deleted because the official announcement for Far Cry Primal will probably be made tomorrow or a little later in the week.

It's unclear whether this represents a spin-off for the Far Cry series, as Blood Dragon was, but it will add some humor to the core elements and is designed to tie gamers over until a new numbered entry is launched.

Presumably, gamers who get Far Cry Primal will be able to explore an ancient version of one of Earth's continents, making sure that they have basic provisions and dealing with both threatening fauna and with other hostile proto-humans.

We will know more about the mechanics of the game and the launch window when Ubisoft delivers the official announcement.
