Crackdown 3, the upcoming open world action game that's set to debut next year on Xbox One, allows players to go offline, but they won't be able to benefit from the full destruction mechanics, which are available only when the game is online and connected to Microsoft's Azure cloud network.

Crackdown 3 finally got its re-reveal at Gamescom 2015 this week during Microsoft's press event. While the game is still in development, a brief bit of gameplay footage as well as a live demonstration of the cloud-powered destruction mechanics were showcased.

Now, Reagent Games confirms via Twitter that Crackdown 3 can still be played offline, but in such a situation, players won't be treated to the full destruction system, only getting access to a "limited" version of it instead.

Once they're online and connected to the Microsoft Azure cloud system, the full destruction system is available, alongside the cooperative mode.

It's unclear just how limited the offline destruction is, but Crackdown fans can expect to see it demonstrated until the game launches in 2016 for the Xbox One.

Last but not least, it seems that the story campaign and the multiplayer mode use different versions of the map, so that players can wreak more havoc with friends.
