The Xfire client is about to stop all activity on June 12 and the development team behind it says that it is planning to focus its future efforts on the Xfire Tournament Platform, which is linked to eSports and has a bigger potential for growth.

The client and the site associated with it arrived in 2003 and introduced such features as screenshot capture, video recording and live broadcasts, many of which are no longer seen as innovative.

The official announcement says that "Attracting over 24 million users into a healthy and vibrant community, it set the standard for the socialization of PC Games."

The Xfire Tournament Platform will be updated with new features in the coming months, and the company says that it wants gamers to be involved either as competitors or as spectators in the coming months.

Gamers who have used Xfire can log into the official site in order to get access to a tool that allows them to download images and videos that they have created over the years.

The team behind the Evolve social gaming platform is allowing all those who want to move platforms to import their information, using their login and their Xfire username.
