The sign-in system for the Xbox Live service on both the Xbox One and the Xbox 360 is at the moment down for all users, and that means there's no way to access the multiplayer side of a variety of big titles.

The information comes from the official support page for the service and from the Twitter accounts of Destiny and other video games.

Microsoft is saying that it is aware of the problem and is working to find the cause and to fix it as quickly as possible on the server side of the service.

In the meantime, apologies are offered to all those affected by the Xbox Live sign-in problems.

Most of the time, such issues are eliminated in about an hour or two, but for some users, it might take longer to get back into their accounts.

The success of the Xbox One and its rival, the PlayStation 4, has been linked to their online services and both Microsoft and Sony are working hard to keep downtime to a minimum for their home console.

The two companies have recently taken measures to make their infrastructure more resistant to attacks from hackers and to make sure that bugs are quickly diagnosed and eliminated.
