The team working on the long-running Rosetta Stone system for language learning is announcing that it has collaborated with Microsoft to launch a new app for the Xbox One designed to allow users to use a new immersive simulation to get the info they need to learn either English or Spanish.

The company states, "You’ll explore several locations in the Discovery Zone and chat with the characters you find there. In the Training Zone, you’ll solidify the concepts you encountered with study recommendations, cultural tips, phrase books, and of course, more games!"

Gamers can use the Rosetta Stone app to track achievements and to run through exercises until they get a perfect store and can handle any real life conversation.

Both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One have been adding a lot of apps in the past few months, and Rosetta Stone is one service which might actually prove useful for users in the long term, especially if more languages are added in the coming months.

Given the recent push towards virtual reality, it will be interesting to see whether the Rosetta Stone organization will move to use either the Morpheus or the HoloLens in order to create an even more immersive way to learn new words and phrases.
