Many tears will be shed if Yakuza Zero doesn’t make the jump to the West. The game looks great and has an interesting premise, but for the time being, Sega has not issued any official statement regarding the possible localization of the upcoming action-adventure video game.

The game sets the calendar to 1988, unveiling the origin story of many of the characters present in the series so far, and is due out exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system.

The action takes place in a neon-drenched fictionalized Japan, following some characters making their way through the seedy underbelly of crime-riddled cities, exploring the stories of some of the famous criminal clans introduced over the years.

Sega has released a brand-new seven minute video detailing the story of Yakuza Zero, showing a lot of action and many of the game’s cast as well as providing a pretty good overlook at the level of visual fidelity.

Yakuza Zero is expected out on March 12 in Japan, available for the PS3 and PS4.

Western gamers will, however, be able to get their hands on some Japanese crime family action later this year, when Yakuza 5, the 2012 PS3 hit, will make the jump to North America and Europe.
