A sequel for the open world sandbox is coming

Watch Dogs 2, the sequel to last year's open world experience from Ubisoft, has just been leaked via the resume of one of the publisher's employees, effectively confirming the vague statements that already appeared from the company.

Watch Dogs was supposed to mark the stellar start of a new franchise for Ubisoft, one that's capable of competing with the likes of Grand Theft Auto, while delivering its own novel take on the open world sandbox.

While the end result was pretty impressive and sold quite well, fans weren't exactly blown away and the myriad of technical issues meant many were frustrated with its performance.

Even so, Ubisoft emphasized the game's potential to kick off a series, but stopped short of confirming that a sequel is in development.

Now, one of the employees from Ubisoft's Paris studio confirms, via his resume found by NeoGAF, that he's worked on Watch Dogs 1, its expansion Bad Blood, and that he's active on Watch Dogs 2 as Senior Gameplay Programmer.

The confirmation isn't that big of a surprise, but it's still something pretty official that should ease the worries of Watch Dogs fans about the sequel.

As of yet, Ubisoft hasn't made a statement about Watch Dogs 2 and it's unclear if it will reveal it anytime soon.
