Square Enix has published the opening movie for the upcoming tactical role-playing game Bravely Second, showing some of the characters that players will be able to meet during the adventure.

The game is a sequel to the highly acclaimed Nintendo 3DS exclusive Bravely Default, which came out back in 2012 in Japan and at the end of 2013 in western markets.

The opening movie features a pretty catchy song coming from famous Jpop music group Supercell, and a ton of snazzy CGI. There is no gameplay, but it sets the scene for the events taking place in the game.

Bravely Second takes place in the same universe as its prequel, and it will share the same focus on narrative and on tactical action.

The action takes places several years after the conclusion of the events in Bravely Default, and gamers will be able to play as a new character, Magnolia Arch, coming from the world's moon.

The game also features a subtitle, "End Layer," which will be most likely tied to the story somehow, just as Bravely Default's "Flying Fairy" was related to certain events in the game.

Bravely Second is slated for release on April 23 in Japan, exclusively for the 3DS handheld gaming device. For the time being, there is no word on whether the game will be making a western release, but it's highly likely, given its precursor's popularity.
