Developer Haemimont Games and publisher Kalypso Media announce the incoming release of Tropico 5 on the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony, in late April.

Console players will be able to step into the shoes of El Presidente, a benevolent dictator who presides over the destiny of a small tropical nation.

The game features 1080p resolution visuals running at 30 frames per second and will provide the same experience it does on PC.

The long-standing Tropico series offers a city-building experience merged with a political simulator, where you have to balance the welfare and equality of your people with your own rampant greed and ambition.

Although the game tackles a pretty serious theme, it does so with tongue firmly planted in cheek, and the announcement post on the PlayStation blog even presents a humorous outline of the many colorful characters you'll meet during your adventures on the island.

Tropico 5 will land on the PS console on April 24 in Europe and April 28 in North America. The game is also available on Windows PC, OS X, Linux and Xbox 360.
