The Creative Assembly is putting the finishing touches on its Total War: Attila strategy title, and with the core mechanics all but nailed down one month ahead of launch, the team is allowing a number of community members to play it and reveal different aspects of it.

A new video shows a major battle taking place between the Eastern Roman Empire, which is based around Constantinople, and the Sassanid Empire, which is in many ways the major power of the East.

The new element featured in the footage is the fact that the combat involves both land and sea-based forces and there are some interactions between the two elements of each army.

Gamers who are looking forward to Total War: Attila can also take a look at some of the unique units it will introduce in action.

The mixed land and naval battles were introduced in Rome and it seems that they might become even more significant from a strategic point of view in Attila, especially when evenly matched empires are involved.

The Creative Assembly has also confirmed earlier in the week, also via a video, that the Huns will be a playable faction.

The new strategy game will be offered on the PC and will be playable in the middle of February.
