The development team at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA are delivering a new cinematic trailer for Total War: Attila, created using the in-game engine, which is designed to show the atmosphere that the new title aims to create.

There’s no in-game footage to be seen but there are details about the Gothic people and their emerging problems, as they need to move away from the path of the Huns while also finding new provinces to settle.

The Creative Assembly states, “As they approach the borders of Rome, the Goths realize their future hangs in the balance: the rider of the black horse has the power to decide their fate.”

The new horde mechanics in Attila are designed to make migratory factions powerful when on the move, able to take out enemy defenses, and basically exploit provinces that they do not own.

They can create encampments, with their own building chains, designed to give them more gameplay options.

The barbarians can also choose to settle down when they conquer a city, although the move will be risky because it drops their other bonuses and makes them a target for barbarians who are roving around the map.

Total War: Attila will be out on February 17 on the PC.
