The deal with Microsoft was only for the first title

Respawn Entertainment and Microsoft have signed an agreement for the exclusive release of Titanfall on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC console. The multiplayer game won't be released on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3, but its successor might see another fate.

According to Vince Zampella, Respawn Entertainment CEO, the exclusivity deal with Microsoft only covered the first Titanfall game and that “future products will not necessarily be exclusive.”

In an interview for GameInformer, Zampella also stated that his company does not take into consideration a free-to-play Titanfall 2, “I would definitely consider a free-to-play game in the future, but that's not necessarily where Titanfall is going right now.”

Even though Zampella's statement doesn't necessarily mean that Titanfall 2 will certainly land on PlayStation 4, it does hint at this possibility.

In other news, Respawn's CEO confirmed his studio is now envisioning the next installment in the franchise and that it's too early to talk details.

In the meantime another team from Respawn, smaller than the one dedicated to Titanfall is already wording on a new unknown project, which is now in pre-production. We'll be keeping an eye out on any additional details on the matter, so stay tuned for more info.
