Video game developer Japan Studios and Sony have made good on pre-show rumors and are opening up their E3 2015 presentation with a look at The Last Guardian, which is still in development despite its long-term problems and will be offered on the PS4 in 2016.

The footage shown during the event is very similar to what we have already seen from the title, but now everything is running on the PlayStation 4, with interesting mechanics than emphasize the relationship between a young protagonist and a complex beast.

Trico and the kid work together in order to explore the world and to solve puzzles, and the interactions between the two at the core of The Last Guardian gameplay.

The footage shown from the game was not impressive in any way, but it's interesting to see how the development team is trying to create an experience where emotion is at the center of the story.

It will be interesting to see whether Sony manages to deliver any other footage from the title or an actual gameplay session for those who attend E3 2015.

Fumito Ueda, the creative director, working on The Last Guardian, also seems to be continuing to be heavily involved with the project, despite the fact that he announced he was leaving the company.
