The rules are linked to a new disclosure policy

The team at Valve in charge of Steam is announcing that it is changing the Terms of Service in order to make sure that all users will be able to see exactly how the digital distribution service is used when it comes to the promotion of other products, affiliated or not with the video game space.

The company says that all those who are receiving money, free games or any other kind of reward in order to use Steam for promotional services need to share this information or they risk being banned in the future.

The new rule applies to the Steam Broadcasting video service, as well as the Workshop, and will probably also be in effect when the service gains a new set of users as both the new Steam Machines and the Vive virtual reality solution launch.

Valve has recently announced that it wants to improve overall customer service in the coming months because it understands that many gamers are unhappy with the answers and the solutions they are getting at the moment.

Apparently, the company has plans to integrate its system with Steam, making it easier to use the actual digital distribution service to get a clear answer.
