Square Enix teased a new announcement for this weekend at Tokaigi 2015 event in Japan. The teaser had a website with a working title tagged on it, “Project Code Z.”

Today the publisher confirms that Project: Code Z is an indie game that will be launched in Japan on March 19. The game is exclusive to PlayStation 4 and is developed by Tozai Games.

Project: Code Z is a Spelunker game in the 2D platformer genre. According to Gamespot, the game will be available for free. For the time being, it's unclear how Square Enix plans to monetize it, but we will probably find out this piece of information later on.

We get more details on the gameplay from the 2-minute trailer that has been published after the official announcement in Japan.

As expected, you'll be exploring a huge underground cave, while picking up various items that will be stored in an inventory. You can jump, use ropes to climb, collect treasures and all sorts of other activities that make Spelunker games so addictive.

Even though the game has been confirmed for release in March, Square Enix only announced the game's launch in Japan. We expect more details on its availability in other regions pretty soon, so stay tuned.
