Happy Badger Studio announces SmuggleCraft, a new kind of racing game headed to the PS4, PC, Mac and Linux platforms.

The game is a quest-based hovercraft racer that aims to deliver a fresh take on the entire racing video game genre, consisting of player-selected missions ranging from high-speed chases to delving into the perilous realm of illegal contraband and adrenaline-filled payouts.

Users will be able to use their mission rewards to pay off their debts and upgrade their hovercraft, and then proceed to deliver even more questionable contraband goods. The upgrades will be implemented through a robust crafting system, rather than simply selecting the next available improvement for your vehicle.

Players will be able to create their own modular parts and then build their ideal hovercraft, one that fits the play style they like best.

The concept of the entire game is very simple, focusing on arcade action, with a small and nimble hovercraft running around some procedurally generated race tracks. In addition to racing, players will also enjoy a branching narrative with alternate endings, depending on the succession of quests that users pick and complete.

SmuggleCraft is slated to drop for PC, Mac, Linux, and the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, sometime in 2016.
