You can check the status of various PSN services

Sony has finally released an official portal dedicated to showing its customers the status of PlayStation Network services.

The website does not merely state whether the global servers are up or not, but goes into detail showing the status of various PSN services, all in real time, which should help users diagnose their problems a little better.

The old support page was not particularly useful, with users usually checking the PlayStation Twitter account for updates on the status of the PlayStation Network.

Now, Sony joins Microsoft, who already maintains a similar page catering to the needs of Xbox Live users, with a new PSN status page that looks pretty good and has separate categories for services such as gaming, social, the store, searching, redeeming vouchers, PlayStation Now, and others.

Fortunately, this will provide a valuable tool for those running into trouble while using their PlayStation home consoles. In the least, you'll be able to find out whether there's a problem with your particular device or whether the issue stems from a more widespread problem.

PlayStation fans have been waiting for this for quite a while, and now they'll be able to check the status of PSN for PS3, PS4 and Vita.
