The Pokemon Company and publisher Bandai Namco Games have released a brand new gameplay trailer from their intriguing fighting game, Pokken Tournament.

The developers are working with the team behind Tekken, borrowing fighting game mechanics and blending them with the setting of the popular Pokemon franchise.

Just like in Tekken, the gameplay revolves around two different fighters battling each other, only using various Pokemon instead of throwing punches themselves.

The game is focused on action a lot more than Tekken is, which, due to the fact that it has been out for quite a while, is much more technical in nature.

Gamers are able to perform various techniques from classic Pokemon games, including Mega Evolutions, for which a special gauge has to be built up through repeated attacks.

The game will be available exclusively in Japanese arcades for the time being, but its makers have revealed that they are also considering launching it for Nintendo exclusive home consoles and even PC sometime in the future.

The strange idea was the result of a brainstorming session revolving around fresh way to play Pokemon.

The video below introduces the arcade fighter's cast, including Pikachu, Suicune, Gardevoir, Machamp and Lucario, and showcases some of its game modes.
