A brand new system software update for the PlayStation 4 console is launching today, April 16, taking its firmware up to version 2.51. Unfortunately, Sony has yet to provide any actual details and users can't download it just yet.

The PS4 console launched back in November of 2013, and millions of fans quickly rushed to buy the new device alongside many games for it. Since then, the Sony console has gone through some great periods, and while Microsoft's Xbox One has managed to overtake it in terms of sales in certain months, it's still holding the crown for now.

PS4 owners will soon be able to download a brand new firmware update for their console, as Sony's website confirms that system software 2.51 launches today, April 16, worldwide. Unfortunately, no exact details are available about the incremental firmware.

What's more, it seems that the new software isn't available for download just yet, as none of the PS4 owners is able to transfer and install the firmware.

Expect to hear at least a few details about the new PS4 software update 2.51 in the following hours. Judging by past incremental releases, it brings bug fixes and stability improvements, probably for some of the issues that appeared after the major update 2.50 that launched late last month.
