Hitman franchise developer IO Interactive confirms that it's finally going to make a proper announcement for the next game in the series later this year and that it can't wait to share some actual information about the adventures Agent 47 will go on in the new game.

Hitman titles have delighted stealth game fans for quite some time, but in recent years there have been very few actual games released by IO Interactive, with the latest being Hitman: Absolution.

The game went on to earn some critical acclaim, and sales were decent but it didn't garnish the success publisher Square Enix was looking for.

As such, IO Interactive is trying to resurrect the old spirit of the series with the next installment, which was confirmed back in 2014 as an experience that sees Agent 47 at the height of his career, traveling the world to take out all sorts of targets.

Unfortunately, no actual details have been shared and we're already in 2015 and there's no word about the project.

Now, however, IO Interactive confirms to a fan on Twitter that more information about the new Hitman game is set to appear this year and that the whole team can't wait to share the details with loyal fans.

However, no exact time frame was given, so it's unclear whether IO and Square Enix is going to make a reveal this spring or in summer at E3 2015 or Gamescom 2015, the two largest events in the gaming industry.
