Publisher Perfect World Entertainment and developer Cryptic Studios have announced that Neverwinter will launch a closed beta test on the Xbox One this February.

Neverwinter is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game based on the popular Dungeons & Dragons franchise, namely the Forgotten Realms universe.

The game allows gamers to explore the huge legendary city of Neverwinter and its surroundings, to adventure through deadly dungeons and explore captivating storylines on their own or with their friends.

The game is only available on the PC for the time being, being scheduled for launch on the Xbox One sometime in early 2015, as a free-to-play title for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

The Xbox One edition will fully integrate console features, including friends list and an optimized control system to accommodate a smooth transition from mouse and keyboard to controller.

The game also has a powerful editor that players can use to create their own content, making for a virtually limitless experience.

Cryptic Studios is holding a closed beta event from February 5 through February 8, and players interested in taking part can sign up on the Neverwinter website.
