Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart 8 will be getting its second downloadable content pack a little earlier than expected, on April 23.

The news has come from the company's latest Nintendo Direct, announcing the early release of the DLC pack including Animal Crossing characters, both male and female Villagers, Isabelle and Dry Bowser, expanding the roster of playable mascots.

In addition to this, the pack also comes with four new vehicles, including the City Tripper and Streetie, and with some new challenges, in the form of the Crossing Cup and the Bell Cup, consisting of four tracks each.

In addition to the downloadable pack, Nintendo will also be releasing a free update for everyone to enjoy, bringing the 200cc class to the game.

In case you're interested in getting the DLC pack, it will be available as a standalone product going for $8 / €8 on the Wii U eShop, or bundled with the Zelda-themed DLC, going for $12 / €12.

Each of the packs requires around 1GB of free space on your console. You can check out the new 200cc kart and the Animal Crossing course in action, as well as the Mario Kart 8 racing suits you can get from your Amiibo figures, in the videos below.
