The Wii U might be seen as an also-ran in its sales competition with the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, but the home console from Nintendo is leading on the Japanese market, managing to actually increase its overall sales from 17,713 to 21,126 for the week that ended on June 6.

According to Media Create info quoted by NeoGAF, the 3DS is also performing solidly, although it is in a long-term decline, and has managed to move 17,891 handhelds to customers.

The PlayStation 4 has dropped a few hundred in sales to reach 11,763.

Meanwhile, the Vita is moving more units than both the PS3 and the Xbox One.

On the software front, Splatoon, the Wii U title from Nintendo, has managed to stay in the first spot in the charts, with sales of 68,913 copies.

Second place was occupied by Shiren the Wanderer 5 Plus: Fortune Tower and the Dice of Fate for the PS Vita, while the last position on the podium belongs to Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakusho.

The rest of the top ten includes: Stella Glow, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Mario Kart 8, Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition, Atelier Rorona Plus: The Alchemist of Arland, Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Deluxe, and Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakusho.
