Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition leads software

The Nintendo made Wii U home console has managed to deliver an impressive increase in its sales in Japan during the week that ended on May 2, showing that the platform still has long-term potential to capture the attention of players.

The 3DS handheld is still the best-selling hardware seller of the week, managing to move 25,948 units in seven days to gamers, but its results include all the devices in the line-up of the brand.

The Wii U has managed to move into second place, with overall sales of 22,898, and third place belongs to the PlayStation 4 home console from Sony, with 19,782, according to NeoGAF.

The PlayStation Vita has managed to also generate some solid sales given its age, and the PS3 has sold 3,956 units while the Xbox One only managed 341.

The video game chart in Japan is dominated by Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition from GungHo Online Entertainment, with sales of 179,926 in its first week.

Dragon Quest X: Inishie no Ryuu no Denshou Online from Square Enix for the Wii U managed to deliver 98,323 copies to gamers.

The rest of the top ten includes: Xenoblade Chronicles X, Bravely Second: End Layer, Style Savvy 3: Kira Kira Code, Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition, Saenai Kanojo no Sodatekata: Blessing Flowers, To Heart 2: Dungeon Travelers, New Tokyo Legacy: Operation Babel and Mario Kart 8.
