Sony has recently announced that the PlayStation 4 is now over the 20 million units sold mark worldwide and the company has another reason to celebrate as its home console is also moving to the top of the hardware chart in Japan.

Sales reached 46,139 units for the week that ended on March 1, which is almost double the figure seen in the previous seven-day tracked period.

Meanwhile, the 3DS handheld from Nintendo, which tends to dominate the chart, saw its own numbers decline to 36,596, according to data from Media Create quoted by NeoGAF.

The Vita is in third and also posted lower sales, while the PlayStation 3, with 8,925 units sold, is better than the Wii U, which is just over 6,000.

Dragon Quest Heroes from Square Enix for the PlayStation 3 managed to become the best-selling title of the week, with 325,446 copies delivered to fans, while the PS4 version of the same title also managed to move 269,303 units.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, God Eater 2: Rage Burst, Yo-kai Watch 2: Shin Uchi, Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Jukai no Kioku, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Nanatsu no Taizai: The Seven Deadly Sins - Unjust Sin.
