Japan might be declining as a video games market but it still remains important for a variety of companies and genres, and the new weekly chart shows that the Nintendo-made New 3DS LL handheld is once again the best-selling piece of hardware, with a little more than 20,000 units moved to gamers.

For the week that ended on January 25, the Vita remains in second place, with 14,991 devices sold, although Sony might be getting ready to limit future support for the device.

The PlayStation 4 is the best-selling home console in Japan, with 13,793 units delivered to gamers during the week, which is a solid total, especially when compared to the relatively subdued performance of the Wii U from Nintendo, which sits at 7,088, and the Xbox One, which only sold 259 devices.

The classic 3DS, both in its normal and LL version, also sold about 6,000 units in Japan, according to Media Create data from NeoGAF.

The video game chart has seen a shake-up, with Tales of Zestiria from Bandai Namco Games taking advantage of the big install base of the older PS3 to sell 340,891 copies during its debut week.

Second place goes to The Legend of Legacy from FuRyu, another new entry, and third place is occupied by Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for the Wii U.

The rest of the top ten includes: Yo-kai Watch 2: Shin Uchi, Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Atelier Escha & Logy Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Tsurugi no Machi no Ihoujin: Kuro no Oukyuu, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, and Kenka Bancho 6: Soul & Blood.
