Halo: New Blood, the new novel based on the universe first created for the video game space, is now out and gamers who pick it up will be able to get access to more details about the career of Gunnery Sergeant Eddie Buck, previously played by Nathan Fillion in ODST.

Author Matt Forbeck has not offered too much info about the actual story in the novel, but previous interviews about it have suggested that fans will be able to get new information about the history of the franchise, some of which might have an impact on the coming Halo 5: Guardians.

The author adds, "I had an absolute blast living in Buck’s head while I wrote this. It’s told from his first-person point of view, and I worked hard to get down his voice and patter. The research involved playing games and watching videos, though, so don’t cry a drop for me."

Halo: New Blood is only offered electronically, both as a traditional novel and as an audiobook.

The franchise has managed to support a range of other entertainment products since it was launched, but the focus of license holder Microsoft is at the moment on the coming Halo 5: Guardians, which is set to be launched on the Xbox One this fall.
