Gran Turismo 7 Designer Kazunori Yamauchi confirms that the next title will make improvements when it comes to physical impacts and damage simulation, while adding that a 2017 release is unlikely, as no one wants to wait for such a long time.

The Gran Turismo series has been around for many years, and while Gran Turismo 7 was set to appear rather quickly after the debut of Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3 in December of 2013, not much has been heard about it since then.

While talking with SpazioGames, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi mentions that work is progressing well, particularly when it comes to physical impacts and damage simulation. There will also be a higher number of premium cars in the new racing simulator, although he declined to say just how many.

Last but not least, he emphasizes in regards to rumors that Gran Turismo 7 is coming in 2017 that no one is willing to wait for such a long time, so a 2016 launch is pretty likely.

Yamauchi has declined to say if he'll be present at E3 2015 but he has mentioned that more details should appear soon enough about Gran Turismo 7, so PS4 owners should be on the lookout for new things.
