BioWare confirms that the first weekend multiplayer event for Dragon Age: Inquisition has just gone live and it challenges players with killing foes using staves and axes, and comes with two different rewards, in the form of big Commendation chests filled with goodies.

Dragon Age: Inquisition launched back in November and delivered not just a stellar single-player campaign but also an intense multiplayer mode that saw players go on adventures across different environments.

The title has since received its first multiplayer add-on, in the form of the Destruction DLC, which adds new paths through the three major environments, not to mention wild animals to spice things up.

Now, the game has just received its first weekend event for the multiplayer mode, according to the official Twitter, which comes with two distinct challenges. Players are asked to kill 100 foes using staves, while playing as mages, and with axes, while playing as warriors.

When they complete these challenges, which can be supervised in the Prestige section of the multiplayer mode, players are rewarded with special Commendation chests that include different gear, character unlocks, and potions.

The weekend event is already live in the game's online mode and lasts until Monday, December 22, at 1pm. Considering the traditional events seen in Mass Effect 3's multiplayer mode, you can expect plenty of different operations to take place every few weeks.
