The development team at Ubisoft that has worked on Far Cry 4 is announcing that it is willing to match any donations made by fans of the game, up to the sum of 100,000 dollars (91,000 Euro), to help those who are affected by the recent Nepal earthquake.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of the series and says that interested gamers need to move their money from the Canadian arm of the Red Cross.

The company states, "It is with heavy hearts that the Far Cry family pulls together to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross, who are mobilizing their traveling hospital team to Kathmandu to offer support and medical assistance."

Video games rarely try to make the places they are inspired by a better place, so the initiative of the Far Cry 4 developers is an interesting one, even if gamer contributions so far are relatively small.

The entire title takes place in the country of Kyrat, which was based on Nepal and its traditions.

The recent 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit the real world country has caused a lot of damage, destroying a range of UNESCO sites and killing a lot of people, with the casualty toll expected to soon get past the 15,000 mark.
