EA Sports is announcing that it is planning to launch a maintenance period for the Ultimate Team mode and the Football Club component of FIFA 15 at 6 AM Greenwich Mean Time on January 21, which is the equivalent of 10 PM Pacific Time on January 20.

The announcement says that the downtime is at the moment expected to last for three hours and that updates will be offered if it needs to be extended.

EA Sports says, "During this time, FIFA Ultimate Team, the Web App, Mobile companion app, and EA SPORTS Football Club will be offline. Online service for all other game modes will be unaffected."

In what has become a rather worrying trend for the fan community, the developers are not offering any information on what they want to achieve during the maintenance period or at least which areas of the Ultimate Team experience will be updated.

The Team of the Year players are no longer offered in the official store and this might be a good time for the studio to improve the overall security of the game and even to issue some bans in order to make sure that the playing field is level.

A new big update for FIFA 15 is at the moment expected to arrive at some point in early February.
