The somewhat mysterious maintenance period for FIFA 15 that EA Sports hastily announced earlier in the day and began at 7 AM Greenwich Mean Time should have ended by now, but the studio now says that gamers who are looking to play the Ultimate Team mode will have to wait for another six hours before they can access their favorite experience.
The information comes from an official Twitter message from the company, but it does not offer any sort of detail on why the extra time, which is longer than the initial period, is required.
EA Sports has already drawn some pointed comments from gamers who want to play Ultimate Team and more criticism will probably be delivered as the extra period progresses.
It’s unclear what prompted the extension and some gamers are also reporting that other aspects of FIFA 15 are at the moment not running as they should.
The maintenance is problematic because the company is currently running a 15 Days of Christmas promotion and is pushing some exclusive new offers for Ultimate Team.
Those who pick up the Holiday Edition should also be able to use Lionel Messi as a loaned player to kick-start their team’s performance in the mode.
UPDATE: It seems that gamers will get access to Ultimate Team for FIFA 15 around 6 PM GMT.
Scheduled maintenance on #FUT has been extended by an additional 6 hours. All platforms will be affected. Estimated up time: 6pm UK/10am PT.
