Playing Ironcast and Pillars of Eternity

The Baldur's Gate fan inside my gamer mind is pressing me to spend all weekend playing the newly launched Pillars of Eternity from Obsidian, but I know that as soon as I commit to the experience, I will be unable to engage with anything else for a long time.

So I will first deal with some unfinished business with Ironcast, the steampunk mech game that I have been enjoying for the past few days, trying to finally actually beat the last boss, who so far has been much too tough for me to take out.

The title has a rogue-like structure, with global unlocks that are designed to make it easier to win battles the longer you play.

Ironcast also requires a bit of planning for both pilot and mech upgrades and some luck, because if the gems do not line up it's almost impossible to win, especially when choosing one of the hard missions.

When Ironcast frustrates me too much, I plan on spending some time in Game of Thrones: Ascent, trying to make my characters ready for the coming Alliance versus Alliance phase, preparing my Sworn Swords in terms of equipment and taking stock of the materials that I can contribute to the efforts of my group.
