Bandai Namco Games announced that its latest action adventure video game, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse, managed to ship over 1.5 million copies worldwide.

The publisher mentions that DBX has proven to be the most popular entry in the series so far, having the biggest ever launch for a Dragon Ball-themed game.

The fighting video game features open world gameplay and a completely original storyline, using the most popular characters from the established canon, in a convoluted adventure that involves traveling to the past to alter some catastrophic events in order to save the future of the world.

Developer Dimps really outdid itself this time around, enabling gamers to create their very own character, and have one of the established DBZ protagonists become their master, and enabling them to perform various special moves during battle.

Bandai Namco Games also revealed that the first piece of downloadable content goes live today, consisting of three new characters, Kid Goku GT, Trunks GT and Pan, and adding the Planet Tuffle stage, nine new Z-Souls, five costumes, 15 special moves, Tien and Yamcha as Masters, and some new missions, the Time Patrol and Parallel quests.
